Upcoming Bikes and Scooters from Aprilia in India in 2021

Auto

Aprilia, as we know it, is one of the leading bike-makers in the global automotive industry. In fact, it is well known across the world for its performance bikes with desirability dialled up to 11. In India, too, Aprilia is known amongst masses but not for the same reasons. You see, while performance bikes at a high price still occupy only a niche part in the automotive sales industry, the automatic scooters from Aprilia are a bit more approachable for the average Joe.

Aprilia bikes are, however, all set to introduce a number of new products in the Indian market next year, widening its reach, and hence, raising the bar for other manufacturers in the country. Here are all the Aprilia two-wheelers set to launch in India next year.

1.     Aprilia SXR 160

The SXR 160, as its name suggests, takes a lot from the SR 160. To decode things a bit, it is based on the same platform and gets the same powertrain as its elder sibling. Therefore, powering the SXR160 is a 160cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine, which makes 10.8bhp and 11.6Nm of torque. Moreover, as you can judge by the pictures, it’s a maxi scooter – Aprilia’s first – that looks fresh, modern, and considerably Italian in the way it has been designed. There’s also full-LED lighting and a digital instrument cluster on board. Expect it to be a bit pricier than the SR 160 when it’s launched in the Indian market in January 2021.

2.     Aprilia RS 150

The RS 150 is, when it arrives next year, going to be the brand’s most affordable motorcycle in the Indian market. Therefore, the aim with the RS 150 is establishing Aprilia as a top-tier brand in the Indian market not just known for automatic scooters but also for affordable motorcycles. And the RS 150 is going to be priced very well, in fact in line with the SXR 160, which means it’s going to compete head-on with the Yamaha R15.

3.     Aprilia Tuono 150

Loved the idea of the sporty RS 150? Where the RS 150 is a fully-faired motorcycle, the Tuono 150 represents a naked streetfighter and, of course, it’s going to be a bit more comfortable to ride around town than its sibling. Moreover, it’s going to be based on the same underpinnings as its above-mentioned sibling, and, yes, the engine is going to be the same as well. Expect it to arrive around the same time as its sibling and to be priced in the same ballpark too.

4.     Aprilia SXR 125

The SXR 125 is yet another maxi-scooter from the bike-maker. It was showcased at the Auto Expo 2020 earlier this year and it represents a slightly watered-down SXR 160, as it’s almost visually identical to its bigger sibling. While the SXR 160 is set to make its debut as soon as January 2021, the SXR 125 is set to arrive almost around March of the same year. It’s going to be based on the same platform as the Storm 125 and expect the same engine doing its duty under the SXR 125 too. When it arrives, it will be the only competitor to the Suzuki Burgman Street 125.

5.     Aprilia RS660

The RS660 is a hot-shot fully-faired motorcycle with racy intentions. It is the brand’s middle-weight Supersport offering unveiled back at the EICMA show in 2019. There are speculations of the RS660 making its way into the Indian market by the third quarter of 2021. Powering the RS660 is a 660cc, parallel-twin motor, which is capable of producing 100bhp. When it arrives, it’s going to compete against the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R head-on.

6.     Aprilia Tuono 660

The Tuono 660 from Aprilia is the naked sibling of the RS660, so it shares its platform with its sibling and comes powered by the same engine. Therefore, it, too, gets a 660cc, parallel-twin motor, which is capable of churning out 100bhp. Since it is a naked motorcycle, it offers the same blend of performance as the RS660 – minus the razor-sharp handling – with added comfort thanks to an upright riding position. Expect it to arrive around the same time as its fully-faired sibling, that is around the third quarter of next year. Also, grab the latest info on the upcoming scooters, only at autoX.
